During this period, we have introduced at IRGH a series of cutting-edge techniques in oncological and minimally invasive surgery, among which I mention VAC therapy since 2012, tumor cytoreduction and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), accessible to patients for the first time in a public (state) hospital in Romania as “standard of care” since 2015, the introduction of hybrid surgery (laparoscopic endoscopically assisted surgery -2015), laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation of hepatocarcinomas (2015), total duodenopancreatectomy by total laparoscopic approach with preservation of splenic vessels and spleen (2016), central pancreatectomy with pancreatico-gastric anastomosis by total laparoscopic approach (2017), radiofrequency ablation of pancreatic tumours (2017), cephalic duodenopancreatectomy by total laparoscopic approach (2018) and ALPPS: Associated Liver Partition Vein Ligation for Staged hepatectomy (2021).
